The Better #109 brush step entrance mat features a lighter-weight double rib high/low design that performs the scraping function of the mat. The ribbed surface brushes, channels, and conceals dirt and debris, making it the perfect choice for light to medium traffic areas. The mat's vinyl backing helps reduce mat movement, and the face weight is 19 oz. per square yard, with a backing thickness of 70 +/- 4 mils. The carpet is made of 25% post-industrial and consumer recycled content.

The mat has been tested by an independent testing laboratory, and the results are as follows:

(1) Abrasion Resistance ASTM D3884-01: The test specimen is subjected to the rubbing action of two abrading wheels under controlled conditions, and the results are measured in weight loss (Grams), with a result of 1.15.

(2) Accelerated Wear: The test specimen is subjected to the action of rollers under a specified load, and the sample is rotated 10 degrees after each pass. The results are measured in thickness loss (percent), with a result of 38.66 percent.

(3) Accelerated Soiling ASTM D6540-00: The test specimen is subjected to an accelerated soiling process for a predetermined length of time. The sample is vacuumed, rated, submitted to an extraction device, and then rated again. The results are based on visual inspection, with a Vacuum Rating of 4.0 and a Rating After Extraction of 4.5.

(4) Water Retention: The test specimen is submerged in water for 5 minutes, removed, drained for 15 seconds, and weighed. The results are measured in weight gain (Gallons per square yard), with a result of 0.25.

(5) Flammability ASTM D2859 (CPSC FF 1-70): This test is intended to measure the matting's response to an ignition source in a controlled environment. The uncharred area of the test specimen must be greater than 1 inch to pass, and the result is 3.5 inches.
